I enjoyed LOB. Like most Americans I know little of the problems we caused the Iraqis.
I was curious why you inserted the Jesus subplot. It seemed to me to have been added pro-forma,reduced the credibility of the American hero, and detracted from the authenticity of the plot??

Thanks for an enjoyable and educational read however.

Davis Bunn,

One thousand thank yous for this book! When I first saw this book mentioned in Charisma Magazine I thought it was intriguing. Then a friend called me while she was reading it and instructed me to get a copy and read it ASAP. I did: bought it that day, finished it the next (today).

I’ve been passionate about Iraq for 15 years. Now, in the fullness of time I am “finally” planning to semi-move there: first visiting in November, then semi-moving some time next year. Your book not only illuminated the human realities of threadbare hope and overdressed pain walking the streets of Baghdad, it stirred up the tangible possibility that Jesus’ prayer for “on earth as it is in heaven” be manifest in Iraq. This is one of my life dreams. So, thank you for partnering with heaven and daring to believe for HOPE for Iraq.

May Jesus receive His full reward in the Middle East.

I’m half way through reading LOB and I’m really enjoying the characters and the faith that is coming through loud and clear. The Americanism of the conversations have me scratching my head a bit, beng an Aussie:)
The bit where Alex shared that he leans on the LORD MORE during his assignments, where as Marc said he cuts God out challenged me. Realizinge that my life cannot be compartmentalized but allowing every area to be under Jesus’ Lordship.
Thank you Davis for giving us a glimpse of what our brothers and sisters face daily. To hold on to their faith in these tough times when they carry the reality of being kidnapped or killed just for being a follower of Jesus.
